This is identical to the previous model (4167) with the exception that it is equipped with a copper wick alcohol burner and unit comes with a rapid locking/unlocking system. You may distill directly on the wood base with the alcohol burner instead of placing it on a stove burner.

This is our smallest functional still using a refining process. Rectification (or refining) is the process of purifying the alcohol vapours in order to remove water and other undesirable items. The distillate will have a higher percentage of alcohol with one distillation process.
In this type of still liquid (wine etc) is placed in the main vessel (which will be heated) and in the other two smaller recipients. As the wine is heated, vapours are generated and these travel to the second and third pot (the vapours are released at the bottom of each pot through a copper tube).
The repeated condensation and contact with the liquid help clean the rising vapour as less volatile undesirable material and water vapours fall back. This will increase the percentage of purity.

This graceful charentais still is a replica of the 20L model that includes a brass valve between the wine preheater and the alembic pot for controlling the wine flow to the main copper distilling pot; making this the smallest example of a fully functional continuous liquid distillation unit.
